OWN A PIECE OF MOVIE HISTORY! 1964 Ford Falcon Futura V-8 260

Currently big V-8 low rumble idling in Culver CIty, California is a head-turning, rare, four-door 1964 Ford Falcon Futura that was featured in the recent Quentin Tarantino movie “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” If there was a car category at the Oscars, this one would win. See the attached photos from the set - it appears multiple times in the film.

I bought this car for $7k from a guy who had it permanently garaged in Massachusetts- he claimed he was the second owner, but just never had time to work on his planned refurbishing. I had it shipped to LA, then put about $25,000 worth of work into it by mechanics trained specifically to work on Ford muscle cars from this era (I have all receipts). It is rock solid, drives like a champ, is really fast and has that great V8 rumble. The Futura line was the pinnacle of the Falcon series, and with the 260 V-8 it really goes.

In 1964, Ford swapped this Falcon body with the first iteration of the Mustang body - it’s the same frame, same engine as those early Mustangs. At some point in this car’s life, somebody turned it into a gasser - dual exhaust, engine and carb mods, better transmission, re-arced the leaf springs for that great racer profile. Plus driving three-on-the-tree is fun as all hell.

It’s such a great ride, I wouldn’t hesitate to drive it across the country right now. It was even my daily driver for a while and performed like a champ.

Here are just a few of the upgrades in the refurb/rebuild that were done:

Installed Pertronix coil ignition
Replaced all engine valves, belts hoses, filters, plugs, battery mounts
Replaced shocks, saddles, insulators, upper and lower control arms
Replaced radiator, thermostat and housing gasket
Replaced brakes, lines, and pads/shoes
Replaced air cleaner assembly, filter, housing
Installed Gano Filter and overflow container
Replaced carburetor (Holley 4-barrel)
Replaced choke pull-off diaphragm
Replaced distributor and wiring
Replaced the transmission levers and linkage
Replaced balancer
Replaced motor mounts
Replaced clutch and assembly
Replaced fuel tank and moved the fuel sender/filler hose to within trunk for easier filling at modern pumps
Installed new wheels, rims, and whitewall tires
Replaced wheel cylinders and brake adjust plugs
Replaced headlight and engine feed harnesses
Rebuilt the factory gauges and lights
Rebuilt heater box with new core, seals, plenum and ducts.
Replaced firewall pan
Replaced wipers and wiper motor
Replaced horn
Replaced door locks and glovebox liners
Replaced parking brake
Replaced steering wheel with Falcon Sprint wheel
Replaced all window run channels, seals and sweepers and trunk weatherstrip, bumper jack and spare mounting
Installed aftermarket bluetooth stereo in Ford finish and lowpro JBL speakers
Installed seatbelt harnesses in backseat (for kids to ride)
Repacked wheel bearings
Replaced and arced the leaf springs
Rebuilt carburetor
Replaced valve covers and gaskets



Like all vintage cars, there are some quirks, but you’ll get to know them and love them. And like anything 50+ years old, there are a few dings in the body and discolorations in the interior, but nothing too obvious. If it hasn’t been driven for 10-14 days, or when it’s cold, it’ll take just a bit to start, but have had no problems since installing the Pertonix coil. No A/C, so windows down in the summer (isn’t that how this car should be driven anyways??), but the rebuilt heater works great in the chill. There’s no way to accurately know the overall mileage of the car, especially because it looks like the engine may have been rebuilt along the way, but it still runs like a top. No rust!

Clean title, easy to transfer. I’ll throw in a custom-fitted car cover (worth $600)- plus the all-important Ford Blue dice.

Drive it and watch everybody stare at a real Hollywood celebrity!
